Reasons voters still choose Sally

Here’s why voters choose Sally Cogley

  • I have lived in the valley for nearly 30 years.
  • I have been a part of community groups in the valley for nearly 20 years.
  • I have worked in the valley – as a councillor for 5 years.
  • I support hundreds of constituents in resolving a range of matters.
  • I support many community groups.
  • I have challenged the very slow speed of mental health diagnosis and support for our young people. This was particularly concerning during COVID with the backlog still in evidence.
  • I promote and champion our young carers.
  • I started and have led the Irvine Valley Development Programme – The Valley needs investment.
  • During the COVID lockdowns I coordinated community support and helped with shopping, prescription collections and other errands for many people.
  • I also coordinated the ‘Irvine Valley Sewing Group’ a volunteer valley group making thousands of face coverings to be given free to all members of our communities.
  • This also included making hundreds of ‘scrubs’ for care homes and GP’s practices throughout the Southwest of Scotland and thousands of ‘scrub bags’ for the same.
  • I campaigned for the Vaccination rollout to be changed so that schools could safely reopen as soon as possible for the sake of our young people.
  • I look after the war memorial in Galston.
  • I work closely with the Youth Action Team, the police, and teachers at Loudoun Academy to ensure the safety and well being of our young people.
  • I have worked very closely with the local police in addressing rural crime, drugs, theft, underage drinking and in particular – racism.
  • I’ve worked closely with roads and Darvel Community Council to address the flooding within the community.
  • I opposed the proposed changes to the National Care Service.
  • I opposed the increase in Council Tax.
  • I have challenged (and am continuing to do so) the regulations concerning private landowners.
  • I have supported Community Action Plans in Newmilns and Darvel and have started this process in Galston.
  • I have introduced a ‘Litter in Schools Programme’ for all schools in East Ayrshire. This will be used nationwide.
  • I have increased the number of enforcement officers and have increased their profile.
  • I am working with the Scottish Government to change the laws relating to litter, fly tipping and dog fouling.
  • I actively support all our veterans.
  • I challenge laws and regulations that other councillors can’t challenge – because their parties make the regulations!
