A quick heads-up from Police Scotland about fuel theft.

Police Scotland are seeing an increase in fuel theft across the country at the moment. With prices going up and concerns about shortages, things like heating oil, petrol and diesel are all being targeted - from homes, vehicles, farms and worksites.

There are some simple things we can all do to make it harder for this to happen:

A few helpful tips:

-Keep your fuel tank somewhere visible if you can
-Make sure gates are closed and locked
-Use good quality locks or caps on tanks
-Think about installing an alarm or monitor if possible
-Limit how much fuel you store on site
-Keep an eye on who has access and when

Most importantly - stay aware:

If you notice anything unusual, especially around delivery times, please report it to Police Scotland on 101.
